Vivien Whyte
Prime Minister’s Scholarship for Asia, Global Internship in Vietnam
Introduction
Kia ora! My name’s Viv, and I’m in my final year of a BSc/BA majoring in Geophysics and Music. I’m Tāmaki born and raised, and the proud daughter of my Sāmoan-Scottish father and Chinese-Indonesian mother.
Within my upbringing, I was always around music and the beach. These two passions have definitely carried through until now. I’m incredibly passionate about our climate and oceans and am very interested in how we transition towards an equitable future in which te taiao is protected and thriving. Understanding how we tackle this global issue together and interacting with different people, perspectives, and knowledges is a key part of this. And thus, I am extremely excited and grateful to be on the PMSA.
Other than that, I have a keen interest in connecting with Asia and learning new languages. And can’t wait to try new experiences and foods and explore while on this new adventure.
