Aria Gardiner
Prime Minister’s Scholarship for Asia, Reimagining India Study Tour
Introduction
Kia ora, my name is Aria Gardiner, and I am a 20-year-old wahine living in Wellington, originally from Waikanae on the Kāpiti Coast. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Religious studies and Development Studies with a minor in Māori studies. I am incredibly passionate about these topics, and I love learning!
I applied for this scholarship because it sounded like the most incredible opportunity to see diverse lived experiences incorporating relevant development and religious themes in person! I am excited to see how different communities work and live together under different cultures and religions and how they mesh and conflict with each other. I think learning from others is incredibly important; I love the principle of Ako, to teach and to learn, and I hope to use this throughout my life in whatever I do!
