Introduction
Hallo!
My name is Katie, and as you read this I am currently on a semester exchange in beautiful Freiburg, Germany!
I’m a 3rd year Law and Global Studies student, majoring Global Politics and Human Rights. Global Studies has allowed me not only to broaden my global horizons, but also to realise my goals of a) learning German, and b) going on this exchange! I am beyond thrilled to be fulfilling both these goals this sem as I study and explore in a whole new continent. Freiburg conveniently borders both France and Switzerland, so you can bet I’ll be making the most of my weekends exploring even more of Europe that I thought possible (my findmy is going to be crazy!!). With both the Schwarzwald (Germany’s Black Forest) and the Alps on my back doorstep, I’m eager to enter my hiking and snow sports era as I quite literally climb every mountain.
Above all, I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to experience a whole new part of creation, make amazing new friends, and go adventure! Here’s hoping my experience provides you all with practical tips and guidance for living abroad, intermingled with a little bit of jealous inspiration to encourage you to exchange yourself! So, my aim for the next 6(ish) months: say goodbye to my introversion and hello to everything Germany (and Europe) has to offer.
