My Exchange at The University of Sydney

One thing that I would like to have known is more about the university campus and clubs before going, once there it is really easy to get swept up in uni work and labs and social stuff, but learning more about the campus and town around would be helpful. This would definitely require some extra research.

Q&A

What were some of the highlights of the academic experience at your host university?

One thing I enjoyed on exchange to my host university was the student culture and all the study spots and cafes on the campus.

Would you recommend any particular activity/activities unique to your host country or university?

If going to the University of Sydney I would recommend taking advantage of the great public transport to experience different areas of the city and harbour, and make sure to get your student discount for your bus pass.

What are your top 3 tips for future students attending your host university or going on exchange to your host country?

Look up where your classes are and go to the buildings a few days before class starts as the campus is huge, take advantage of the great gym and sports facilities and always bring an umbrella even if the day starts out sunny!

How much did you budget for your exchange? Was this enough? Were there any lessons learned that would help future students budget for their own exchange?

Food was very expensive, so make sure that you incorporate enough spending for going out as well.

What are your most significant takeaways from your experience abroad?

Try to choose classes that have hands on labs or field trips and they really give you a different way of experiencing uni and the city you stay in.

Do you want to share anything about travels you did outside your host city/country?

If in Sydney go to the Blue Mountains for a hike!
