About the programme

Korea and Japan are two of the most popular tourist destinations in Asia, and for good reason. Both countries have rich histories and cultures, stunning natural beauty, and vibrant cities. But what many people don’t know is that Korea and Japan are also major centers for Hallyu and Manga, Anime, and Gaming Culture.

Hallyu, also known as the Korean Wave, is a term used to describe the global popularity of Korean culture, including music, movies, television dramas, and fashion. Manga, Anime, and Gaming Culture are also incredibly popular in both Korea and Japan, and these countries are home to some of the most famous and successful manga artists, anime directors, and video game developers in the world.

This short-term programme provides the perfect opportunity for student’s to experience the best of both Korea and Japan’s Hallyu and Manga, Anime, and Gaming Culture. In just two weeks, students will visit some of the most iconic locations in both countries, learn about the history and culture of Hallyu and Manga, Anime, and Gaming Culture, and meet some of the most talented artists and creators in the world.

In January 2024, 360 International supported eight University of Auckland students to join this 2-week short-term experience. Please check back in a few weeks to read reports of their time abroad.
