It’s been two weeks since we returned home to New Zealand, and the reality of being back has given me time to reflect on everything I experienced in Mumbai. Coming back has been a whirlwind of emotions – there’s a strange sense of nostalgia for a place that once felt unfamiliar but soon became home. The contrast between the vibrant chaos of Mumbai and the calm, familiar rhythm of life in New Zealand has been both comforting and eye-opening.
Living and working abroad was an experience that completely pushed me out of my comfort zone. Every moment in Mumbai was an opportunity to learn, grow, and challenge myself in ways I never imagined. What stands out most is how much I learned in such a short period. Whether it was navigating the busy streets, trying new foods, or diving into a new work environment, every day was an opportunity to soak up something new.
One of my most thrilling experiences was during our last weekend in India – white water rafting down the Ganges River. The adrenaline rush was beyond anything I’ve ever experienced, and it perfectly wrapped up this experience by capturing what it’s like to step outside your comfort zone. Just like navigating the rapids, stepping out of my comfort zone was exhilarating, unpredictable, and, at times, a little scary – but it pushed me forward, helping me grow with every twist and turn. It was a reminder that the best experiences happen when you embrace the challenges and keep paddling, no matter how rough the waters may seem.

The biggest takeaway from my time in Mumbai is how much stepping out of my comfort zone has changed how I see the world. While I’m back in my home country, I’ve brought with me a renewed sense of adventure and curiosity. I am craving experiences that push me to grow professionally and personally. The lessons I learned, the challenges I faced, and the friendships I made have shaped me in ways I’m still discovering.
I recommend applying for a group scholarship if you’re seeking adventure and meaningful experiences. It’s an opportunity to bond with like-minded individuals over shared adventures, creating lifelong friendships. The memories we’ve made together are priceless, and I know this is only the beginning of my journey. I am grateful for this experience and all the lessons I’ve learned, and I am confident that I’ll be back soon to continue exploring.
This is just the start of many more adventures ahead.
Thank you to everyone who made it unforgettable.
