Checked Luggage
- Be prepared for all illnesses. Bring your normal medication (carry-on), paracetamol, antinausea tablets and immodium. You can get vitamin C, dried ginger (nausea), Vicks (vapour rub, cough drops, inhaler) and any other medication you will need in India.
- First-Aid kit (blister and normal plasters, alcohol wipes, antiseptic cream)
- Face masks for illness and pollution. Use a scarf to mask smells to avoid offence, especially when entering homes.
- Toiletry bars (soap, shampoo, conditioner) do not fall under airline quantity restrictions, are easier to pack and avoid spillage. Dry these with a towel or toilet paper in between usage.
- Detergent bar and clothesline; laundry can be expensive or unavailable due to the duration of stay. Hand-washing is also affected by duration of stay – opting for light-weight, fast-drying clothes and undergarments will help.
- Additional roll-on deodorant/antiperspirant (purchasing options are limited).
- Sanitary items (purchasing options are limited). Consider sustainable options such as period underwear.
- Packing cubes to organise clothes and other belongings.
- Clothing you can layer (mornings and evenings are cold)
- Compact and lightweight items that fold down into a pouch (raincoat, puffer jacket, shopping bag, rucksack)
